About Lorin Tierney

Take a chance on yourself.

I know it can be really hard and even intimidating to reach out to a therapist, especially if you’ve never been to therapy.

It can be difficult with acknowledging that you need support.

Reaching out for help is not a common thing to do in many cultures, so I understand that therapy will always be kept privately, just between you and me.

So thank you for taking this courageous step, towards building a healthier relationship with yourself and creating a life worth living.

How I approach therapy, to help support you towards making changes

With my psychodynamic therapy approach, I believe that therapy starts with, building a strong therapeutic connection and relationship, with my clients.

With my mindfulness-informed professional training, I weave in mindfulness exercises, to help client stay fully in the present, to observe their feelings and thoughts without judgment, towards themselves and others.

To support your healing process from trauma, we can add in some Brainspotting sessions, so you can quickly reprocess the trauma and heal.

Some of the coping skills that I share are mindfulness based, helping to manage and decrease anxiety and depression symptoms.

I see each everyone as a “whole being,” who come into therapy with their own unique life stories.

I greatly honor and respect people’s diverse background, their culture and/or identity.

I seek out to understand how a person's mind, body and soul connect.

Therapy is so personal with sharing intimate details to your life, so learning to trust the process is vital.

I stand firmly with protecting your confidentiality, which means it never leaves the therapy room, unless you sign a form consenting, that I can have contact with another provider, for treatment planning purposes. er now is the right tr

I believe that it can “take a village” to properly treat each person’s issues, so the more support the better.

Wondering whether now is the right time for therapy?

Are you ready to start living your best life?

This is a big step with investing in yourself, to create a life that you're excited for.

About Me

How I got started in therapy…

As a teenager I was always that friend, that my peers would go to, because I was a good listener. I could hold onto secrets and stay neutral.

I was raised to be the peacekeeper, to not get involved with conflict between my friends and to not be judgmental.

My ability to be the “support person” carried through my friendships in life, so no wonder I fell into the therapy world. It just felt natural to become a therapist.

But there was a time when my parents put me into therapy, as a teeenager, without a choice and I had no idea what to expect.

Oddly enough I liked my therapist, because she too was non-judgmental, a great listener, who validated my experiences, and encouraged me to go live life.

I realized from that experience, that I was just a typical teen, attitude-and-all, trying to exert my independency, while living at home.

When I was working on my master’s degree, I decided it was time, to start my own therapy journey.

I found an amazing therapist that I could relate to, who helped me emotionally heal from my past experiences and inspired me, to be the therapist I am today. To this day, I hold lots of gratitude towards my past therapist.
